MECHAQUARTZ WATCHES

MECHAQUARTZ
Tradition meets modernity.
Mechaquartz movements were first invented in Switzerland and Japan during the quartz crisis in the late 80's. In Switzerland, Piguet and LeCoultre were the first to invent this particular module, while in Japan it was Seiko. Watchmakers wanted to bring back the feeling of a sweeping second hand that could only be found on a mechanical watches at that time. Our chronographs are full of those stories with this touch of modernity. Inspired by the greatest watchmaking stories of the 40's, developed with modern tools for everyday use.

Horological Stories

The story of our Mechaquartz line finds its inspirations from François Borgel (later Taubert), who was one of the greatest case makers of the past. He patented the first waterproof screw-down case back with gasket in 1931 and supplied many of today's iconic watch cases with desirable details such as the engraved "tasti tondi" pushers that we can find on many watches from the 40's-50's. For the record, the apartment in which Furlan Marri began his Kickstarter campaign was a stone's throw from François Borgel's workshop at 10, rue des Pêcheries in Geneva, Switzerland.
